Kids' Music & Dance Summer Camp

EARTH DANCE Music & Dance Camp explores various dance and music adventures over the course of the week.

"Campers" also engage in Eco Village Hands-On Learning Activities, taking full advantage of this wonderful farm & community-oriented location.

West African Dance and Drumming, Bhangra Dance, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Creative Movement, Musical Storytelling, Marimba and other instruments, Cobbing, Seed Balls, Nature Walks, and more!

Our campers' natural curiosity and creativity is nurtured and enhanced in a friendly, spontaneous and joyful atmosphere. Our faculty brings with them a wealth of knowledge, insight and experience.

Please bring: snack, water bottle, sturdy outdoor footwear, dance shoes (none required, but if you have them please bring them), runners, socks, hat, weather-appropriate outdoor clothing (clothes you can move in & get messy in!!)

NEW this year: FARM KIDS FULL DAY PROGRAM

For daytime working parents, or kids who LOVE O.U.R. Eco Village, there is now the option of staying all day, all week — Earth Dance in the morning, plus other Eco Activities in the afternoon. Note: this option is for 6–11 yr olds only. (Younger children permitted if accompanied by a care giver. Contact the Eco Village directly to make arrangements).

CAMPING: is available on site! Please contact OUR Eco Village for details (743–3067).

VILLAGE DAY for families: Friday all day families can engage in cob building, Village tours, and more. Farm Kids program includes this day. For non-farm kids, caregivers must be on-site.

DANCE — Lynn Weaver

Lynn has been dancing all her life and loves sharing her passion for dance. She has studied and performed extensively across a range of disciplines, around the World. Lynn had the honour of teaching dance at Maxwell International School, and has been the artistic director of MoonDance for over 10 years! She also operates a non-profit Society, Matoto Multicultural Arts Society.

MUSIC — Jennie Stevens

Since opening Woodruff Music School over 16 years ago, Jennie has provided a unique music program for children and their families in the Cowichan Valley. Her warm, loving, and relaxed approach with students creates a very special music experience. Her philosophy surrounding the music is one of connection and cooperation. Her classes incorporate storytelling with xylophones and marimbas, offering opportunities for all levels of ability. Jennie holds a degree in Education, specializing in Early Childhood and in Music, and has 28 years of experience teaching music to children of all ages. She has performed in a number of musical ensembles including: The Mere Minstrels Trio, and currently with Mtoni Malaika Marimba Band. Her creative and nurturing teaching style encourages even the most hesitant youngster to join in with the activities, and her passion and enthusiasm for her work shines in the joyful musical expression of the children.

ECOVILLAGE ACTIVITY LEADERS

A chance to learn with others who love their craft and share it from their heart. Eco-learning projects utilise a variety of natural materials, so have a change of mud clothes and even a pair of rubber boots! See you in the mud with the Eco Village team!
